Muhammad (Mo) is a wonderful 18 year old who has leukemia (a type of blood cancer). He’s at Albany Medical Center right now waiting for a bone marrow transplant (a treatment that would help tremendously). Once he’s “matched” with a donor, his prognosis will be significantly improved. There’s a problem though: it’s hard for Mo to find a match. He’s of Afghani / Palestinian descent, which are two under-represented populations in the registry. Luckily, joining the registry is easy – it’s a quick / painless cheek swab.
