Nikkah Services

Allah says in the Qur’an, “And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.” 30:21

 

Nikkah is an act of worship. In Islam Nikkah is an agreement and contract between husband and wife in accordance to the Qur’an and Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon Him).

Nikkah

The following are the requirements in order to get your Nikkah conducted by Al-Hidaya Center. For the marriage to be Islamic as well as Legal, the following conditions must be met:

  1. Mutual agreement (Ijab & Qabul) between the bride and the groom.

  2. Presence of Legal Guardian (Wali), typically the father of the bride. 

  3. Presence of two upright Muslim adult men as witnesses. These individuals will be signing the marriage license along with the Imam.

  4. Marriage license from the local county at least 72 hours before the Nikkah ceremony, license must be valid for 30 days. 

  5. Mahr (Marriage-gift) to be paid by the groom to the bride either immediately (Muqaddam) or deferred (Muakhar) or a combination of both. The bride and groom must both agree on the Mahr.

  6. Photo ID of bride, groom, witnesses and guardian must be provided. 

  7. Imam & witnesses will sign the official marriage license on the day of the Nikkah. 

  8. Both Bride and Groom must be Muslims.

  9. Two pre marriage counseling sessions are required. 

  10. Contact the Masjid at least one week in advance to schedule an appointment and to make sure the Imam is available. 

  11. Al Hidaya Center has its own Certificate “Islamic Marriage Certificate” that will be completed and signed. Please see the model below:

Once the Nikkah Date has been scheduled. Please Keep in mind that...

  • This is NOT a venue space

  • Catering is not allowed

  • Refreshments can be served upon approval

  • The Nikkah are subject to approval which includes number of guests & catering.

  • The typical duration of a Nikkah is roughly 45min.

  • The Nikkah must be scheduled so that they do not interfere with core masjid activities, such as prayers or other events.    

  • Proper Masjid Adab and etiquettes must be observed, which includes proper clothing and behavior. Excessive mixing and or socializing between genders will not be tolerated.
